- Call to Order - The chair, Robert Jeske, called the meeting to order at 9:37 a.m. in Holton Hall 241.
- Automatic Consent
- Approval of Minutes #1, 2001-2002 (October 25, 2001) - There were no objections to the minutes; they stand approved
- Procedural Matters - None
It was moved, seconded, and approved to suspend the agenda to accommodate the guest.
Item IV.B. It was moved and seconded to recommend modifying the requirements of the MA/MS in Geography. Mick Day responded to number of questions from committee members. The motion was approved unanimously.
It was moved, seconded, and approved to return to the order of the agenda.
- Old Business
- Review charter (especially appointments to Grad School comms) - It was moved, seconded, and approved to leave the wording of the charter as it stands.
- Recommendation to modify requirements of the MA/MS in Geography - see above.
- Recommendation to modify requirements of the MA in Journalism and Mass Communication - tabled.
- New Business
- Implementation of Charter section 2.d. and 2.e. - Committee members discussed increasing the Committee's role in nominating faculty for the Graduate Faculty Council, Graduate Fellowship Committee, Graduate Research Committee, and Scholastic Appeals Committee. They agreed that the GFC was the most important of these. It was agreed that the GPC would review the responses to the committee service interest survey prior to the meeting of Committee on Committees in February. Connie Jo will distribute this information to GPC members when it becomes available in December.
- Adjournment - The meeting was adjourned at 10:18 a.m.
