Women's Studies Certificate Program Committee Annual Report
- The Women's Studies Certificate Committee is appointed annually by the Dean of the College of Letters and Science. The Certificate Committee is comprised of staff, students, and faculty members from a variety of departments throughout the university who are affiliated with the Women's Studies program.
- The Certificate Committee meets regularly with the Director and staff of the Center for Women's Studies during the academic year. The 1999-2000 Women's Studies Certificate Committee includes the following members:

- The primary responsibility of the Women's Studies Certificate Committee is to meet with the Director and staff of the Center for Women's Studies to evaluate Women's Studies courses for cross listing and to plan curricular and instructional development for the Center for Women's Studies.
- Over the past year, the Certificate Committee has participated in the following activities and/or addressed the following major issues:
- Development of the Center for Women's Studies Five-Year Plan, The Center for Women's Studies at UWM: Interdisciplinary Education and Research for the 21st Century.
- Development of the April 1999 special event featuring guest lecturer, Angela Davis co-sponsored by the Center for Women's Studies.
- Development of new core courses in Women's Studies, including: Women's Studies Research and Methods; Global Feminisms; Capstone Seminar; Feminism Sexuality.
- Consideration and approval to add four new cross-listed Women's Studies courses in the Fall of 1999 and one new cross-listed Women's Studies course in the Spring of 2000.
- Consideration and approval of four student appeals in the Fall of 1999 and one student appeal in the Spring of 2000 (all student appeals were related to requests for Women's Studies credits for independent studies courses).
- Development of the Recommendation of the Center for Women's Studies to create a Department of Women's Studies and discussion of the departmentalizing process.
- Development of a post-doctoral fellowship in Women's Studies.
