College of Letters and Science Faculty Document No. 600 November 1, 2001 2000-2001 Certificate Program in French and Francophone Studies Advisory Committee Annual Report During the academic year 2000-2001 the coordinator conducted business as usual. The list of approved courses in the fall and spring included courses from half a dozen departments. Thanks to a grant from the Area Studies Coordinating Committee, the program was able to reprint its brochure and to cosponsor the annual French Film Festival as well as four lectures: Juliette Minces, French sociologist, "Women and Islam," 12 March; Olivier Blanc, French historian, "L'Amour à Paris au temps des Liaisons Dangereuses," 16 April; Gisèle Pineau, writer from Guadeloupe, "La Diaspora créole," 17 April; Jean-Christophe Rufin, French doctor, "Humanitarian Interventions in the Contemporary World," 26 April.
