    6. Appointment of the W-I Subcommittee was deferred until after the Fall Faculty meeting; the Faculty will act on the proposal to eliminate the W-I requirement.

It was moved, seconded, and approved to suspend the agenda to consider the matter of interest to the Committee's guests.

The Committee agreed to consider the following Biological Sciences CAR forms, which were not on the published agenda:
Bio Sci 204-103 Topics in Modern Biology (title, desc, prereq)
Bio Sci 204-206 Biology of Women (delete)
Bio Sci 204-226 Frankenstein Revisited: Bioethics and the Future (deleted)
Bio Sci 204-250 Urban Horticulture (delete)

It was moved and seconded to recommended approval of these CAR forms. Cindy Sommer explained how these actions fit into the department's reorganization of its courses and major. Members of the Committee expressed concern about deleting Bio 206, which is offered regularly and which is very popular, and incorporating this subject into a topics course. Cindy indicated the department would withdraw the 206 request and modify 103 to remove reference to 206. With these changes, the motion was approved unanimously.

Item V. A. 1. It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to modify the requirements for the geography major. Glen Fredlund explained the requested changes. The motion was approved unanimously.
