  3. It was moved, seconded, and approved to suspend the agenda to accommodate the guests.

VI.A.1.     It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the following CARs:

Geosci 422-210 World Resources: Minerals and Fuels (new)

Professor Norman Lasca gave a brief summary of Geo Sci 210 and 475. He explained that these two courses were developed for the London study abroad program, but noted they also would become regular parts of the Department's course offerings. After some discussion, Committee members felt there was confusion about the Department's intent to offer Geo Sci 475 as a regular part of the curriculum. It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of Geo Sci 210. The motion was approved with two abstentions. It was suggested that the Geo Sci 475 CAR form be modified to indicate that the course does not count toward the major. Contingent upon the Department accepting this change, it was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean approval of Geo Sci 475 as modified.

VI.A.3. Professors William Holahan and David Schultz gave a brief summary of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematical Sciences, Business, and Economics (MSBE) and answered questions from the members of the Committee. Committee members were concerned that additional faculty members would need to be hired in order to implement this program. Professor Schultz assured committee members that the department has enough faculty members for the early stages of the Program's implementation. It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal to Request for Authorization to Implement a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. The motion was approved.

VI.B.1. Professor Susan Lima gave an explanation of the requested change to the GPA required to take Psych 325, a course required to declare the psychology major.
