V.B. It was moved, seconded, and approved to remove from the table a motion to approve the CAR forms for JMC 560, 570, and 571 (see the list below). Professor David Pritchard addressed the Committee's concern that the description of JMC 560 was very similar to that of JMC 101. He explained that 560 will be an upper-level course detailing the history of mass media while JMC 101 gives a very brief survey of the history of the development of mass media as background for discussing the current state of mass media. Committee members agreed that the problem lay with the description of 101, not 560. A substitute motion was made, seconded, and approved unanimously to recommend to the Dean approval of JMC 560, contingent on submission by the Department of a CAR form to remove the word "historical" from the description of JMC 101. It was moved, seconded, and approved unanimously to recommend to the Dean approval of the CAR forms to delete JMC 570 and JMC 571. It was moved, seconded, and approved unanimously to recommend to the Dean approval of a CAR form to change the description of JMC 101 by removing the word "historical," contingent upon the prior approval by the Department of the JMC 101 CAR form.

It was moved, seconded, and approved to return to the order of the agenda.
