April 12, 2001 Nominations Report of the Committee on Committees for the 2000-2001 Election of Faculty Standing Committee Members THIS IS NOT A BALLOT L&S Faculty Policies and Procedures state that the Committee shall nominate two individuals for every vacant position. The committee was unable to identify two faculty members willing to stand for election to one committee. An additional nomination from the floor of the Faculty meeting is needed. ACADEMIC PLANNING COMMITTEE Two positions to be elected for three years, one each from Humanities and Social Sciences; Comm, Econ, Philos, and Sociol not eligible.
ACADEMIC POLICIES AND APPEALS COMMITTEE Two positions to be elected for three years, one each from Humanities and Social Sciences
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE One position to be elected for three years, from any area.
COMMITTEE ON COMMITTEES Two positions to be elected for three years, one each from Natural Sciences and Social Sciences
COURSE AND CURRICULUM COMMITTEE Three positions to be elected for three years, one from each area; two to be elected from the Social Sciences to fill one-year vacancies; Commun, English, Geosci, Math, Pol Sci not eligible.
GRADUATE PROGRAM COMMITTEE Three positions to be elected for three years, one from each area; Anthro, Art Hist, English, Geosci, History, Math Sci, not eligible; one to be elected for one year to fill a vacancy (Geosci eligible for this position).
HONORS PROGRAM COMMITTEE One position to be elected for three years from the Humanities
In addition to selecting nominees for L&S committees, the Committee also identified nominees for Graduate School committees. L&S Faculty elect their representatives on the Graduate Faculty Council. The College has been informed that it will lose one position on the GFC, due to a reduction in the size of that body. D. Hoeveler will be on sabbatical for the last year of his GFC term; the following year, he will not be replaced. Nominees for the Graduate Research Committee and the Scholastic Appeals Committee also were requested. There are no L&S vacancies on the Graduate Fellowship Committee for the coming year.Only one nominee was required for the Scholastic Appeals Committee. For the Research Committee, an insufficient number of nominees was available. The nominees identified are listed below, and they have been reported to the Graduate School.
