Special Program in the Study of Aging Advisory Committee
1999-2000 Annual Report

The Committee met on several occasions to discuss the status of the program. Many of the faculty originally involved in the program have retired. Required courses are offered infrequently. On December 9, 1999, the Committee voted unanimously to suspend new admissions to the Certificate Program pending further curriculum development.

There are two students remaining in the program. One student will complete requirements in May, 2000; the other will finish in December, 2000. The coordinator fielded a dozen electronic and phone inquiries about the program this year.

There remains considerable interest in studies about aging on campus. The Committee anticipates resumption of the program in some form in the future.

Respectfully submitted,

Carol Haertlein
Coordinator, Special Program in the Study of Aging
Associate Professor, Department of Occupational Therapy
