November 2, 2000 Annual Report 1999-2000 The Academic Policies and Appeals Committee met two times during the 1999-2000 academic year: February 23, 2000, and April 5, 2000. February 23 Fred Anapol was unanimously elected as Chair for the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 academic years. The draft Grievance Procedure was approved with the amendment--add "or his/her designee" following "chair" in all sections. There were a number of additional suggested changes, and it was approved to circulate a draft copy to the Committee via e-mail. The Committee will take action via an e-mail meeting if the draft is accepted. A proposal for a two-tiered admission system for the College was withdrawn. Student data did not support clear parameters for identifying which students were at risk and which would thrive in more challenging academic opportunities. Work is being done on a draft of an Honors College. April 5 The April 5 meeting was conducted via e-mail. The Grievance Procedure was approved with a number of editorial changes recommended by Professor Bergtrom. It will be forwarded to the L&S Faculty for action.
