- Proposals for the third round PAR funds from Art History, Conservation and Environmental Sciences, English, Journalism and Mass Communication, Physics and Women's Studies were discussed. The Committee fully endorsed proposals from Art History, English, and Conservation and Environmental Sciences, although these departments need to supply specific budget amounts before the proposals are forwarded to the Provost. The Committee endorsed one of the two faculty matches proposed by Journalism and Mass Communication. While Committee members supported the Women's Studies proposal, they felt action on their part was inappropriate at this time. The Committee did not recommend the TA stipend augmentation funds proposed by the Physics department.
Schwartz drafted a letter to Dean Goodman with the Committee's recommendations.
ADDENDUM: The proposal from the Chemistry department was not available at this meeting. The Committee members reviewed the proposal via email. The APC supported the faculty match but did not recommend the other parts of the proposal. Mark Schwartz emailed the Committee's recommendation to Dean Goodman.
- From a list of recent sabbatical recipients, the Committee recommended the following faculty members to the Dean to assist the Associate Deans with reviewing new sabbatical proposals. Two faculty members will be chosen from each division to work with the Associate Deans.
Humanities: Mary Louise Buley-Meissner (English), Fabrizio Mondadori (Philosophy), Jane Nardin (English), Julio Rodriguez-Luis (Spanish).
Natural Sciences: Jim Cook (Chemistry), Reinhold Hutz (Biological Sciences), Ian Musson (Mathematical Sciences).
Social Sciences: Margo Anderson (History), Don Green (Sociology), Fred Helmstetter (Psychology), Eleanor Miller (Sociology), Phil Shashko (History).
