- It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal by the Department of History to delete the Public History Certificate program but to retain a public history specialization within the master's degree. Discussion centered on the department's request to have the specialization posted on the student's transcript. Currently, this is not done by the Graduate School. - It was moved and seconded to recommend to the Dean approval of the proposal by the Department of Geography for changes in its Ph.D. program requirements. Discussion focused on the elimination of the foreign language requirement. It was moved and seconded to amend the proposal by adding a statement* to the "Course of Study" section encouraging foreign language study when it is needed for a program with an international focus. The amendment was approved. The motion was approved as amended, with one abstention.
