Gay and Lesbian Studies Certificate Program Advisory Committee
1999-2000 Annual Report

The Coordinator answered inquiries from all over the country and abroad, enrolled students, and updated the website. The lists of approved courses in the fall and spring semesters, as usual, included courses in many L&S departments and several schools throughout the University.

We produced a new brochure, distributed copies to the UWM Rainbow Alliance, Afterwords bookstore, and the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, and also publicized its availability through the LGBT newspapers. We decided it is time to change the name of the program to the more accurate, current, and inclusive "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies" and submitted the necessary paperwork to the L&S Course and Curriculum Committee.

We cosponsored the annual Gay and Lesbian Film festival in the fall. We made plans to bring a speaker to campus, in conjunction with the Center for Twentieth-Century Studies, in the spring, but he had to cancel his appearance, so we cosponsored the Institute on Critical Issues: The Dynamics of Homophobia on 24 April instead.
