November 5, 1998 Off-Campus Programs Committee 1997-98 Annual Report The Committee met once during 1997-98 on 1/21/98. Present were Professors James Cook, Ann Greer, William Van Pelt, and Kathleen Wheatley as well as Mr. Larry Roscioli and Associate Dean Tom Obryan. Professor Trattner was excused. The two non-faculty positions were vacant. Election of a chairperson and the appointment of two non-faculty members was discussed briefly and postponed. The committee discussed its charge with respect to its chair Obryan. Professor Trattner was excused. The two non-faculty positions were vacant. Mr. Roscioli explained the present state of off-campus credit programming with respect to the situation that existed five years ago - especially as it impacts return of money to departments. There was discussion of the proposal to offer an L&S BA degree with a committee interdisciplinary major on the UW-Sheboygan and UW-Washington County campuses. Associate Dean Obryan presented the particulars of the proposed degree program. The Committee members unanimously recommended that the L&S faculty approve the offering of this degree on the aforementioned campuses provided funds are not diverted from L&S's budget to support this program. There was discussion of the problem related to DOCE's offering of non-credit foreign language courses on campus and the staffing of those courses. This item will be discussed again at a future meeting. Subsequent to its meeting, the Committee received suggested changes to its charter from the Committee on Committees. This item will be placed on the agenda of a future meeting. |
