    2. It was moved, seconded, and approved to recommend to the Dean acceptance of the revisions in the French major.

    3. Internship guidelines were discussed with the three guests. Committee members agreed to modify the draft to give greater emphasis to the fact that obtaining academic credit for an internship requires the careful construction of an "internship contract" that makes explicit the academic components. In addition, committee members agreed that the "forty hours per credit" parameter should be eliminated. Instead, the draft should contain the provision that the number of credits granted is subject to the approval of supervising faculty members based on the complexity of the academic component. Committee members agreed in principle that the faculty approval of base line parameters for internships was a good idea, that these guidelines would be useful for departments that do not have established internship programs as yet. Connie and Cindy will revise the draft and send it to the Departments of Communication, English, and Journalism and Mass Communication internship coordinators for their review.

  6. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:58 p.m.
