The Chair, Mark Schwartz, called the meeting to order at 1:07 p.m. in Holton 241.
- Procedural Matters - None
- Automatic Consent - Minutes #4 and #5 were approved as submitted.
- Old Business: PAR Recommendations/Position Requests
Program summaries and assessment were discussed. The Dean's letter to Department Chairs was reviewed. The Committee decided that the two items should be merged. A general discussion raised several questions: how are departments to address the College priorities when many of them feel it is more essential for position requests to address the fundamental mission of the department; what is the role of the committee in this process; and what criteria should the committee use in carrying out its charge. Committee members will continue their review of the reports in the context of new requests. It is expected that all the relevant material will be available for the next scheduled meeting on April 21. It is likely some additional meetings will be scheduled.
