Information
The speakers for this short course possess extensive
knowledge and expertise. They have published numerous reports and articles, and
are active in many technical and professional societies, and
their committees. They
have given lectures and presentations about concrete
technology at numerous national and international seminars,
workshops, meetings, and conferences.
Program is scheduled to include the following speakers:
Mario Collepardi, Professor of Material Science and Technology, Politecnico di
Milan, Italy.
Dr.Collepardi is author or co-author of more than 300 papers and several books on cement chemistry and concrete technology.
He holds five international patents in the fields of superplasticizing admixtures, silica fume, shrinkage
compensating concretes, etc.
Rudoph N. Kraus, Assistant Director, UWM Center for By-Products Utilization,
Milwaukee, WI.
Mr. Kraus has been with UWM-CBU since 1994. He has directed research on numerous projects on the
use of by-products (coal ash, wood ash, used foundry sand and slag, pulp and paper mill residuals, etc.) in cement-based
materials.
V. Mohan Malhotra, P. Eng., International Centre for Sustainable Development of
Cement and Concrete, CANMET/NRCAN, Ottawa, Canada.
Dr. Malhotra is an Honorary Member of ACI.
He has served on numerous ACI and ASTM Committees. He is a prolific author, editor, and researcher.
He has received many awards and honors from ACI, ASTM,
and other institutions throughout the world, including two
honorary doctorates.
P. Kumar Mehta, Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering,
University of California, Berkeley, CA.
Dr. Mehta
recently retired after 30 years on the faculty there. He is a Fellow of ACI and has authored numerous papers
on the properties of concrete and cementitious materials.
He is also the principal author of the textbook on
“Concrete: Structure, Properties, and Materials.” He holds several patents on rice-husk ash and cement.
Tarun R. Naik, Ph. D., P. E., Professor and Director, UWM
Center for By-Products Utilization, Milwaukee, WI.
Dr. Naik has over 35 years of experience with use of
cement, aggregates, admixtures, and by-products in concrete.
His contribution in teaching and research has been well
recognized nationally and internationally. His research has resulted in over 250 technical reports
and papers in ACI, ASCE, ASTM, etc. He has been a member of many technical committees of ACI,
ASCE, ASTM, and RILEM.
Jean Pera, Professor and Director of the Department of Civil
Engineering, Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Lyon
(INSA), Lyon, France.
Dr.Pera has published over 250 papers and reports. He holds 14
international patents in the field of building materials.
He has developed innovative materials utilizing fly
ash, rice husk ash, municipal incinerator slag, red mud, paper
sludge, etc. He
has received numerous awards, including Best European
Innovative Material: Self-Leveling Concrete, 1994.
Jan R. Prusinski,, P. E., Executive Director, Slag Cement Association, Sugar
Land, TX.
Mr.
Prusinski is a civil engineer and also holds an MBA degree.
In over 20 years of experience, he has developed
innovative technologies (some patented) and has published
numerous papers on slag and portland cements, coal ash, and
polymer concrete. He is active in ACI, ASCE, and TRB.
Bruce W. Ramme, ,
P.E., Manager – Land Quality, Environmental Department, We
Energies, Milwaukee, WI.
Mr. Ramme
has worked for over 20 years with We Energies. He has published numerous technical reports and papers
on coal combustion products utilization. He is a member of many technical committees of ACI,
ASCE, and other professional organizations. He is a past president of the local ACI and ASCE
chapters.
Michelle L.Wilson,, ,
Program Coordinator, Portland Cement
Association, Skokie, IL.
Ms. Wilsonis responsible for the development, content, and presentation
of PCA’s education and training programs and products.
She has produced several educational products for PCA
including training videos and CD-ROM distance learning
products. She is
a member of ASTM, and ACI’s Committees 311 (Inspection of
Concrete), 301 (Specifications for Concrete), and 201
(Durability).
