I presented an audio tape of eight
speakers to 50 different people who, in turn, wrote down what they believed
to be the speakers' age, sex, ethnicity, educational level, physical characteristics,
and which part of the world they believed the speaker to be from.
First, try the survey yourself. Then check out the true identities
of the speakers and the results of my survey.

The results below are taken from the responses given to my survey by various people in the state of Wisconsin. The number next to each description is the number of people who believed this description to be true of the individual speaker they had just listened to. I only used the descriptions which five or more people recorded.
