Chancellor Search
(Last updated December 1, 2003)
Welcome
to the website of the UWM Chancellor Search and Screen Committee.
The committee and the university seek a new chancellor who will
take UWM to the next level of excellence, both in academic research
and teaching, and in a more mature integration with regional
economic development. The goal
of the university, as stated in the preamble
to its Investment Plan is to be a premier research
university, recognized for excellence and dedication to the principle
that
the education
of its students is its primary purpose. We have the firm belief
that if Milwaukee is to be a great city, it needs a great
public university. The themes of educating students, excelling
in research, and partnering with the community are echoed in
all its activities.
The position
announcement identifies the traits we desire in the next
Chancellor. The search committee is
assisted in this effort by the executive search firm of A.T.
Kearney & Co. The
schedule of events represents a very tight timetable that will
result in the naming
of the new Chancellor by March 2004. The search committee wishes
to reach out to all constituents for their thoughts on this process.
Accordingly, we plan numerous public forums to gain such input.
