Looking north, Lake Michigan in the background. The three towers in the center of the picture are the Sandburg Residence Halls. The School of Architecture building is one of UWM's newest and most striking edifices.
The UWM Business School Building features some of the UW System's most cuttting edge educational technologies.

Engelmann Hall is home to UWM's business and financial services.

The Golda Meir Library holds one of the largest academic collections in the state. ...another view of the library.

This view southward shows Sandburg towers, UWM's residence halls (dorms) in the foreground.

...and a view to the northwest toward Sandburg Halls

Spaights Plaza (foreground) is usually a lot busier on nice days like this! The library lies at the north end of the plaza. The Union is home to many important UWM functions: Parking and Transit, the Bookstore and, of course -- food!

Around Town

UWM is located about 4 miles from downtown Milwaukee, visible in the background of this photo. The intervening trees provide shade to the neighboring homes.

Another, closer view of downtown, taken across a lagoon near the McKinley Marina on Lake Michigan.

Milwaukee's single most distinctive feature is probably its lakefront, which is lined in large part with public parks.

Milwaukee's a great town for fireworks lovers! This shot was taken during one of the spectacular lakefont displays sponsored annually by Firstar Corp.

Summerfest, held at the Henry Maier Festival Park along the lakefront, is the main event in a summer filled with lakefront festivals.

The Wisconsin Gas Company building (the yellow building at right) is topped by a 21-foot "flame" that serves as a weather signal following the ditty below:

When the flame is red,
it's warm weather ahead!

When the flame is gold,
watch out for cold!

When the flame is blue,
there's no change in view!

When there's a flickering flame,
expect snow or rain!
