About the Strategic Game ClubThe Strategic Game Club, a student organization at UW-Milwaukee, provides opportunities for role playing and strategy games on campus. We support both computer and face to face games. Our activities include role-playing games, board games, and card games. For more information on our current and upcoming events, check the links at the left. Because nerds love acronyms, we usually refer to ourselves as the SGC.Who can join the SGC?Regular membership in the SGC is open to any UWM student eligable to join student organizations. We also offer a non-voting associate membership for community members. To join, just fill out the new member form online.Can I run my game through the SGC?Yes, absolutely! We encourage our members to run role-playing games and other events using our resources.We have a rather lengthy rule for setting up events run through the SGC--you can read the full text or a summary on our governance page. We hope to make it easy for members to run events; if you would like help getting your event set up, email gameclub@uwm.edu with your questions. What is a role-playing game?This question has been answered elsewhere by people more eloquent than I am, and many of them disagree. Wikipedia has a very good explanation. The best way to understand what a role-playing game is, though, is to participate in one! Check out our upcoming and ongoing games, and see if there's anything that interests you.Are role-playing games all the SGC does?No. We sponsor events for a variety of games, including Sheepshead, Magic: the Gathering, and our extensive board-game library.
