Biology Club Staff

- Elected Positions

President:: Monica Yang

The President of the Biology Club oversees all of the other staff members and makes sure that the club runs smoothly. S/he delegates duties to members, plans and runs all meetings, and acts as the contact person to the Student Association and the Biology Department.

Vice President:: Evan Schuerer Krystofiak

The VP of Biology Club is primarily in charge of organizing the Biological Sciences Research Symposium, an annual event that allows both undergraduate and graduate students to present their research in the form of posters and talks to the UWM scientific community and the public. The VP is also in charge of collecting filled out membership requirements forms.

Treasurer:: Amy Nicole Bavery

The Treasurer manages the funds in the Biology Club checking account that come from dues paid by members, club fundraising, designated segregated fees, funding from the Student Association, and any other outside sources of club funding. The Treasurer also collects membership dues and reimburses club members for club-related expenses when appropriate.

- Non-elected Positions

Chief of Staff:: Hamit Ozcetin

The Chief of Staff takes care of the Biology Club email reflector and maintains our webpage. If you aren't on the reflector and would like to be, just send an email with Bio Club reflector as the subject line.

Newsletter:: Nadine Barabas

The newsletter is typically published every two weeks and emailed to all on the biology club reflector as well as posted around Lapham Hall and on the club bulletin board. It usually has details about upcoming and past events, as well as a regular segment on the Colloquium speaker and a comic section. Additionally, you can check out the full color current newsletter and archived volumes here. If you have something you would like to put in the newsletter, you can contact our editor.

Social Events & Advertising:: Christos Reppas

How did you find out about the Biology Club? Was it from reading an interesting flyer on the wall in Lapham Hall or seeing a chalked message on the sidewalk? If so, that was the work of our Recruitment officers. They are in charge of getting new members, advertising club meetings, and planning social events.

Fundraising:: Richard Bartkowiak

While being an official UWM Club means we get some funding from the University, if we want to do big things, it's up to us to find the money! Current and past fundraising efforts include receiving donations for coffee at weekly Colloquia and selling our T-shirts! Stay tuned for the next printing of T-shirts and make sure to get your order in early to get the best deal.

Bulletin Board:: Monica Yang

We have a wonderful bulletin board on the first floor near the Biology Department office that has a calendar, tutoring flyers, announcements, newsletters and sometimes photos of club activities. Check it when you're in the building to stay up to date on events and happenings. Do you have something you want to post? Just ask us.

Service:: Jessica Nowicki

While it's fun to talk about Biology and socialize, it's also great to give back to the community. That's what the Volunteerism/Service Committee is all about! Various service opportunities around town and even on campus abound. Regular opportunities include the Downer Woods Clean-up, wo/manning the Biology Department booth at the UWM Open House, participating in the RAK-A-Thon and Hunger Clean-Up through the Center for Volunteerism and Student Leadership, and coordinating campus blood-drives.

If you are interested in helping out with any of these positions or have ideas to contribute, please email the Committee Contacts, they would love to hear from you!
