EVENTS/DATES:
Dates for SOTA meetings:
*The next SOTA General Meeting will be Wednesday, December 13th
at 6pm in Enderis Hall Rm. 915. At the meeting we will also have
another Supplementary Education class with Ginny Stoffel. Ginny
is currently serving as a member of the AOTA board nationally.
She will talk about AOTA (what AOTA is all about, why it's important
to be a member as a student and a professional, recent issues/updates,
answer questions, etc.). We will have the general meetingimmediately
after this session, so please show on time. Also, we had a good
turnout at our last meeting so we hope to see everyone there freshman
through seniors.

Supplementary Education opportunities:
We will have a Supplementary Education meeting on Tuesday,
December 5th at 11:30am-12:20pm in Enderis Hall Rm. 955. Sandy
Ceranski is going to talk about non-traditional O.T.settings -
her experiences, how to look for them, what kind of jobs and titles
are out there, private practice, answer questions,etc.
Fundraising Opportunities:
*December 5th and 6th we will be having a Bake Sale in the
Enderis Lobby. Anyone interested in baking something for the sale

NEWS:
JOB OPPORTUNITIES:(There are
many postings on the 1st, 8th, and 9th floors of Enderis Hall

- Autism Behavioral Network--A Division of Pediatric
Psychology Associates. Line Therapists needed. Caring
individuals needed immediately to work as members of a team with
a young autistic child in the Milwaukee area. Training
provided to teach developmental skills using applied behavioral
analysis in the child's home and community. One year of
college required. Experience with developmentally challenged
children a plus. Excellent learning experience. Must
be able to work 6-12 hours per week in 2-3 hour shifts.
$8.00/hr plus travel allowance. For more information please

- Community Living Arrangements--Provides residential
services to adults with developmental disabilities. They operate
18 homes in a 6 county area. Presently, they have openings on
1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts with an option to work 40 hours on a
weekend only. Paid on-the-job training, free meals, and a small
client to staff ratio are some of the benefits. If you would

- A unique employment opportunity to work with a very special
five year old boy. Looking for therapist to work in a home behavioral
modification program. One-on-one instruction focusing on language
development, communication skills, cognitive skills, and play
skills. Training will be provided. Hours are flexible and will
range from 6-12 hours a week. Starting pay is $7 plus paid travel.
Prior experience with kids is highly recommended but not required.
Conveniently located in the Village of Whitefish Bay, close to
the freeway and is accessible by public transportation (10 minutes
from UWM and Marquette Univ). Great clinical experience and look

- UWM Foundation--Is looking for students to call alumni
during a fund drive in late November/early December. You will
be contacting SAHP alumni. $7.00 per hour after training (bonus
potential). Evening hours...Sunday through Thursday. Offers a
flexible schedule. Have fun working with other students and earning
money. Stop by the UWM Foundation office at 3230 E. Kenwood Blvd.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
- Milwaukee Center for Independence--Seeking a volunteer
to work with an adult with autism in sheltered workshop. The
days needed are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the mid-morning
for about 1 1/2 hours each day. The position involves working
one on one with this individual to provide directions for task
completion and behavior management as needed. You will also have
the opportunity to interact with other clients with develpmental
disabilities in the workshop. If you are interested, please contact

- WOTA Fundraising Committee--Is looking for volunteers
to assist with the silent auction for the state conference which
is being held in Madison on Octover 19-21, 2000. Volunteers will
be needed for all three days and will be asked to sign up for
at least two hour blocks of time starting from 7:30am to 1:30pm.
Unfortunately we cannot provide free registration or lunch these
days. The benefits of volunteering are: being part of conference,
seeing the different exhibits, and networking opportunities.

- CHRISTMAS CAROLING: Where: Milwaukee Protestant Home
at East Castle Place 2449 N. Downer (on Downer Ave. just before
St. Mary's Hospital) When: Thursday, December 14 at 11:00 am.
We will meet in front of The Flour Shop in the union at 10:30
am and walk from there OR you can meet us in the lobby of the
nursing/retirement home a few minutes before 11:00am. Caroling
should not take more than an hour, so we should be finished by
noon.
