2000 PAN-AMERICAN INTERCOLLEGIATE CHESS TEAM TOURNAMENT

The 2000 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship took place at the Four Points Sheraton in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 27-30, 2000. This event was co-sponsored by the U. S. Chess Federation and the Milwaukee Chess Foundation and was supported by the USCF College Chess Committee.

The University of Maryland Baltimore County team tied with 5 1/2 points out of 6 with the University of Texas at Dallas team to take the team championship title beating out 27 other teams.

Our own University Wisconsin-Milwaukee A. team won the U1800 trophy.

All team members had to be an undergraduate or graduate student registered for the Fall 2000 or the Spring 2001 term in a degree program and be making progress towards the degree in order to participate. Each team had to submit a signed letter from the school's registrar certifying team eligibility.

University of Maryland Baltimore County team:
IM Eugene Perelshteyn (2511), FM William Morrison (2409), Anton Paolo del Mundo (2351) and Yevgeniy Gershov (2327).

University of Texas at Dallas team:
GM Yuri Shulman (2636), IM Balas Szuk (2360), Andrei Zaremba (2349), Andrew Whatley (2323), Dennis Rylander (2267), and Taras Odushkin (1829).
