About Us
Purpose: To play and acquire chess playing skills and to foster camaraderie between chess enthusiasts. To network with area schools in order to promote chess in area and attract them to UWM Chess nights and special events. This will increase the University's cultural profile in the area.We host many USCF tournaments, as well as non-rated weekly blitz tournaments. We have seminars, workshops & blitz games, and weekly chess nights at the Union 2nd floor tables on Tuesday evenings where chess players from the Milwaukee area get together to play chess. We offer UWM students an intro to on-line chess play & basic chess instruction. We support area scholastic chess & sponsor annual championships. Although we are trying to keep our website updated with current schedule information, it is always available by calling us at 229-2332 or by checking our bulletin board outside of the chess office Union E364.
