The architecture and urban planning resourcesStudents who attend the UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning have access to tools, equipment and technical resources to help them succeed in their studies and to prepare for activities in the workplace. Not only is equipment available for student use, but technicians are available to assist and teach students about their proper and safe use. SARUP resource areas are within the Architecture and Urban Planning complex.
There are a number of facilities available in the AUP building for student use. Hours and other information on their use will be posted outside the doors.
The Resource Center - Sharadha Natraj, Room 146, 229-5244
SARUP maintains its own library of specialized publications related to architecture and urban planning. Knowledgeable staff can assist students who need help navigating their way around the Center, finding images of architectural design literature and historical sites, or locating technical information such as blueprints. While the UWM Library is another excellent campus resource for SARUP students, SARUP’s Resource Center has materials tailored specifically to the needs and interests of those studying architecture and urban planning.
Media Center - Paul Olsen, Room 272, 229-6157
Shop - Dennis Manley, Room B79A, 229-5073
Our experienced staff in the SARUP woodworking shop is on hand to help students learn in a safe and convenient environment how to use the these important tools of the trade. The shop is sometimes modestly described as “very nice” and “a great space.” But it’s really much more than that. Without this workspace, students would be hard pressed to work on design projects or models built to scale. This modern work area provides students with hand and power tools that will help them get the job done and get it done right.

Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Microsoft Office and other software applications are installed on these workstations. Black & white and color plotters and printers that support printing a variety of size sheets and paper bonds are also maintained for student use.
Computer Room Front Desk and Reserve Room - The front desk of the computer lab in Room 150 holds readings that instructors place "on reserve," as well as computer manuals, and slide projectors that students can check out for presentations.
Rapid Prototyping Lab, Room B95
The SARUP Rapid Prototyping (RP) Lab gives students, faculty, and professionals access to computer-controlled model-building services including laser cutting and 3D printing. Lab hours are posted in the main SARUP computer lab (room 150) and also on the door of the RP Lab, which is located in the basement of the SARUP building next to the woodshop.
