Research Interests
'Green Architecture' as a synthesis of energy efficiency, resources
conservation and human health concerns through design. My pedagogy involves
all three of these topics, focusing on the creation of ecologically sound
buildings through site and climate responsive design relative to building
type. My research also advances these issues as a set. I have specific
expertise in the creation of ‘extreme case’ healthy environments, in field
documentation of the thermal performance of existing buildings, and in the
specification and use of resource conserving materials. My current research
and pedagogy involves the use of daylighting in architecture, which again
has implications for both energy efficiency and human health.
