The School of Architecture and Urban Planning (sarup) Architecture Summer Camp is a week long educational program for exceptionally motivated high school students (grades 9-12) contemplating the study of architecture at the university level. Students live in the residence halls at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to get a true taste of college life.
The week's activities are anchored by the design studio in which students develop three projects that address the fundamental issues of space-making in architecture. The projects are similar to those assigned to UWM college sophomores in their first design studio, and have proved to be exceptionally successful in introducing students to the creation and manipulation of space that is at the center of architectural practice.
