Follow us on our journey as we ride our bikes from Alaska to
Florida.

About 3 years ago we started thinking about the possibility of taking a long distance bike tour. In the meantime, we got involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through our neighbors, Amilcar and Gretel. Their friend, Mike, lost his 3 1/2 year old niece, Jillian, to Leukemia in 1994 . Mike's family and friends began riding in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising bike ride, the Scenic Shore 150, in 1995 under the name of "Team Jillie"and have ridden every year since. After hearing about the ride's beautiful route along Lake Michigan and the hospitality of the event organizers and volunteers, we joined the group in 1999 and 2000. We had a great time, making new friends and developing both an understanding of blood-related cancers and a respect for the organization.

The possible long distance bike tour became a reality for the summer of 2001 and would keep us from participating in the Scenic Shore 150. Since we still wanted to be a part of the event, we had the idea of turning our tour into a fundraising event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With the help of Carrie Rueter at the Milwaukee chapter, our dream tour has become the Grizzlies to Gators tour, a ride from Alaska to Florida. We will cover about 10,000 miles on this trip. Our goal is to raise $1 for each mile we ride.
If you're interested in learning more about blood-related cancers and the
society, please visit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
web page. If
you would like to help
us meet our fundraising goal, please send a check payable to "The Leukemia

Corporate matching gifts are an easy way for people to increase the impact
of their personal contributions to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. By
taking advantage of a company's matching gift program, a donor can
generate
an additional gift that may automatically double or triple his or her own
contribution.
Visit the
corporate matching web page to find instructions on how to find out if
your employer
participates in the corporate matching gifts program and how to apply for
a match.
Please follow us on our journey. Our webmaster, Jenny, will periodically
update this site with our progress. We hope to include pictures and
highlights from the trip.
