Topics: -------
1. Frequency Response Design (Franklin et al., Chap 6)
2. State Space Design (Franklin et al., Chap 7)
3. Digital Control (Franklin et al., Chap 8)
4. Nonlinear Systems T.B.A.
Assignments: ------------
The will be homework assignments based on theory and analysis and computing assignments using MATLAB. Franklin, Powell and Emami-Naeini incorporate and develop many of the concepts of the book through homework problems; and the homework will be challenging. Two suggestions for doing the homework:
1. Work together, 2. Ask questions.
Late Homework: --------------
Late homework will be 10% off. Homework more than 1 week late will be 50% off. Homework more than 3 weeks late will not be accepted.
Design Project: ---------------
During the final 5 weeks of the semester (starting April 1) you will be working on a controls design project. You will work in groups of 2 on the project and make extensive use of Matlab.
Exams and Grading: ------------------ The will be two 1 hour exams, open book, open note.
Homework 40 % Exams 40 % Project 20 %
Additional Graduate Student Tasks: ---------------------------------- In addition to other work, graduate students will carry out an advanced project, including a project report.
