UWM's Professor Baseball

 Professor Baseball Retires

Professor Baseball, the familiar animated character featured on the scoreboard during each baseball game at Miller Park in Milwaukee, has retired.

The original three-year agreement UW-Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Brewers created before the team’s first season at Miller Park has expired. The university’s partnership is continuing for the 2004 season, but--like so many other projects at UWM--it has been scaled back due to budget concerns.

The professor's appearance every game on the scoreboard was not included in the new agreement. What will continue is display of the university's highly visible sign in the right-field bullpen, the university’s NCAA Division I baseball team's annual double-header at the ballpark (vs. Detroit Mercy, Sunday, May 2, 5 p.m.) and a scaled back UWM Night (Friday, June 18), sponsored by the UWM Alumni Association.

You can still read about the professor on the links from this page, and the professor’s dedicated team will still respond to your questions sent in by e-mail.
