MILWAUKEE—“Real Men Sing,” an all-day event at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee on Saturday, Nov. 18, will bring together male singers of all ages. The UWM Men of Song; Midwest Vocal Express, a men’s chorus from Greendale; award-winning barbershop comedy quartet “Nightwatch”; and singers from area middle and high schools will be led by Christopher Peterson, assistant professor of music, and James Estes, music educator from the Barbershop Harmony Society in Kenosha, Wis.
They will work on four songs for a 3:30 p.m. concert in the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts, 2419 E. Kenwood Blvd. The concert is free, informal, and open to the public.
Peterson, organizer of the event, says that the goal of ‘Real Men Sing” day at UWM is to bring together singers of all ability levels in a positive and musical learning environment. The group on Saturday will include members of area high school choirs, middle school choirs, Men of Song alumni, and community members. A variety of male choral literature will be sung.
