MILWAUKEE—Celebrate Valentine's Day on Feb. 14 at the Relationships Fair in the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Those attending can explore the many facets of “love”—romance, family, career, friendship, community and more. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., free ice cream sundaes are offered (as long as the treats last) to those who visit five booths at the fair.
“The Relationships Fair has been planned to help students and others learn more about how to build healthy relationships and how to avoid unhealthy ones,” says Cindy Petrites, assistant director of the UWM Women’s Resource Center. “Representatives of student organizations and campus units that work in different ways to foster relationships on the UWM campus will be on hand.”
At 14 booths, those attending the fair will encounter questions about relationships. “Answering those questions will help them measure their knowledge and learn more about healthy relationships,” says Petrites.
Enrolled UWM students who visit at least ten booths at the fair are eligible for a drawing for raffle prizes, such as tickets to the UWM Distinguished Lecture Series, free T-shirts and gift certificates.
The Relationships Fair is a collaborative effort organized by student organizations and student services units. It is sponsored by the UWM Career Development Center, UWM LGBT Resource Center, UWM LINKS Peer Outreach & Mentoring, Men Taking Action, UWM Norris Health Center, UWM Norris Peer Health Advocates, UWM Peer Mentoring Center, UWM Union Sociocultural Programming, University Christian Ministries, UWM University Housing, UWM Bookstore, UWM Student Association, UWM Tsunami Relief Coalition and the UWM Women's Resource Center. All of these organizations and units will have staffed booths at the fair.
