MILWAUKEE—VENT, described by organizers as “a student-centered forum, a celebration and a wallop!” will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m at the Miramar Theatre, 2844 N. Oakland Ave.
This exhibition of student-produced screen-based art, performance and music is a project of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts DIVAS (Digital Interactivity, Visualization, Animation and Sound) program, in conjunction with the DAC (Digital Arts and Culture) certificate program. VENT includes digital works by students from UWM, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, and the University of Dayton.
Other attractions include a BFA dance performance and dueling improvisational piano compositions. An after-party featuring a DJ follows the screening and performance.
Students in the DIVAS program engage with the profound changes taking place in modern culture due to advances in and proliferation of digital technologies. The program is a collaboration among the Peck School of the Arts departments of Visual Art, Film and Music.
The DAC certificate program offered by the UWM College of Letters and Science is designed to provide students with a balanced and comprehensive approach to studying information technology and emerging media forms. The program combines courses in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
