MILWAUKEE—Save the evening of Saturday, April 2, to attend the Grand Viennese Ball, an annual event that benefits student scholarships at the Peck School of the Arts.
With the theme “A Gathering for the Arts,” chairpersons for the 27th Grand Viennese Ball are Bela and Julie Maroti.
As always, the evening will include dancing to a full symphonic orchestra, performances by the UWM Jazz and Wind Ensembles, and the talents of hundreds of students in the Peck School of the Arts.
More than 370 people attended the gala event last year, and $78,000 was raised for scholarships. This year, the goal is $100,000.
The “look” for the 2005 ball was created by students enrolled in GraphX, a student graphic design service in the school. All four GraphX students submitted designs for the printed materials used by the ball committee.
“The student work was outstanding. All four captured the energy and excitement that surrounds this important scholarship event. The chosen design focuses on the rich Viennese tradition of festive party giving, updated to 2005,” said Bob Bucker, dean of the Peck School of the Arts.
GraphX students this semester
are Bridget B. Benzel, Brellyn Echeverria, Danielle Larson and Gena Larson.
While Gena Larson’s design was selected as the basis for this year’s
materials, all of the students worked together to develop thematic designs for
printed materials such as the invitations and silent auction
catalog.
GraphX serves both
campus and community clients by providing graphic design service specializing in
low-cost, high-quality design solutions. Portfolio review is required for
student participation.
