Institute of Chamber Music at UWM Presents

The Caseus Trio and the Arreaux Quartet

MILWAUKEE —The Leonard Sorkin International Institute of Chamber Music at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee offers two fall recitals to showcase its current chamber groups, the Caseus Trio and the Arreaux Quartet.

The Institute of Chamber Music is under the direction of UWM Professor Stefan Kartman.

The Caseus Trio performs on Saturday, Nov. 29 and the Arreaux Quartet performs two weeks later on Saturday, Dec. 13. Both performances take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Peck School of the Arts Recital Hall, 2400 E. Kenwood Blvd., and are free and open to the public. The Caseus Trio—Kristina Bauch (violin), Jonathan Bauch (cello) and Stephanie Orvik (piano)—will perform Trio in C minor, Op. 66 by Mendelssohn and Trio in E minor, Op. 67 by Shostakovich. Arreaux Quartet members Kiju Joh (violin), John Schultz (violin), Joel Gibbs (viola), and Rebecca Shaw (cello) will perform Quartet in B Flat, Op. 18, No. 6 by Beethoven, Quartet No. 2 (Intimate Letters) by Janáek, and Quartet in A minor, Op.13, by Mendelssohn.

The Leonard Sorkin International Institute of Chamber Music was founded by Leonard Sorkin and the Fine Arts Quartet in 1983 to train exceptionally talented music students in the arts of chamber music. The emphasis is on group excellence and preparation for careers in performance. Institute musicians are coached by the string faculty of the UWM Peck School of the Arts.
