Community Offered Ticket Discount to the World Premier of "Attack of the Elvis
Impersonators"MILWAUKEE - In honor of the creator of "Attack of the Elvis Impersonators," University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students, staff and faculty are being offered a $3 discount per $15 or $20 ticket during the show's run Aug. 2-4 and Aug. 8-11 at the historic Modjeska Theatre, 1134 W. Mitchell St.
UWM alum and the show's playwright, Lory Lazarus (BFA -74), is a successful New York playwright and songwriter whose Milwaukee roots shine through with musical numbers such as "Viva Milwaukee."
The world premier of "Attack of the Elvis Impersonators" will be presented by members of the Modjeska Theatre Company, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides a positive place for young adults to study and practice theatre arts. For example, through their hands-on work with Lazarus, the students learned script-writing, set design and musical direction.
Lazarus, who also is a graduate of Shorewood High School, has worked as an actor, director, comedy writer, cartoonist, and stand-up comic. He has written over 300 songs, including "The Baby Bop Hop" and 22 other songs for Barney and Friends on PBS. Lazarus's humorous songs are regularly featured on Dr. Demento's nationally syndicated radio program.
