MILWAUKEE--The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Center for Children's Literature will hold its first benefit book sale June 27 and 28 on the first floor of Enderis Hall, 2400 E. Hartford Ave., will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The sale will include more than 500 used books, including children's picture books, fiction, biographies, poetry, and reference books. Paperbacks are $3, and hardbound books $6. (Cash and checks will be accepted).

"This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to buy gently used children's books that will appeal to all children, from pre-school to high school," says John Stewig, director of the center. The center houses an extensive collection of children's books. The center's mission is to nurture a love of books and reading by showcasing the best and latest in children's literature, according to Stewig. The center is a resource for researchers, writers, students, teachers and parents. (For information on summer hours, call 414-229-5246).

Money raised at the book sale will go to center's Friends Board, which supports a variety of programs focusing on children's literature. In September, for example, the Center will co-sponsor a Curious George traveling exhibit.
