MILWAUKEE - James Poterba, Mitsui Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will discuss "Pensions & Retirement Savings: New Developments and Public Policy Perspectives" at the Bradley Lecture Series, 7:30-9 a.m., Thursday, May 23 at the Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave.
The structural shift in the private pension system in the United States and the recent collapse of share values in several 401(k) plans have led to intense public policy interest in retirement savings. Poterba's research focus includes the economic analysis of taxation, financial markets, and government expenditure programs. He also has a special interest in the analysis of tax-deferred retirement saving programs such as 401(k) plans.
Poterba, who has taught at MIT since 1982, also is director of the Public Economics Research Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
The Bradley Lecture Series is co-sponsored by The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Business Administration.
For reservations, contact the UWM School of Business Administration Executive Programs office at 229-6857 by Monday, May 20. The $10 registration fee includes breakfast.
