UWM School of Nursing to Hold Open House April 6

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Nursing will hold an Open House April 6 starting at 9 a.m. in Cunningham Hall, 1921 E. Hartford Ave. UWM's School is the state's largest, and has doubled the number of nursing students in the last year. The focus of the Open House is on attracting traditional undergraduates as well as current nurses interested in an advanced degree.

The morning programs will focus on the needs of traditional undergraduates interested in a nursing degree. The afternoon program, starting at 1 p.m., will showcase UWM's accelerated degree program, BSN completion program, M.S. and doctoral programs.

Nurses are in high demand nationally and will continue to be for years to come, particularly as the Baby Boom generation ages, says Sally Lundeen, dean of the School of Nursing. "The national desperately needs more nurses at the bedside, in the community and in faculty roles."

The roles of nurses are expanding, and the field offers more career options than ever before, adds Lundeen. "Today's nursing graduates have unlimited opportunities in an evolving health care system. It's an exciting and personally rewarding career."
