UWM UNION CELEBRATES ISLAM AWARENESS WEEK

MILWAUKEE --The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd., will celebrate Islam Awareness Week March 4-8.

The week will feature posters, informational booths, the screening of a documentary, Islamic literature and ethnic foods.

Daily themes include "Behind the Veil: Status of Women in Islam," "Islam: Contribution to the World Civilization," and "Practical Aspects of Islam."

On Thursday, March 7, Dr. Umar F. Abd-Allah will present a lecture on "Islam: Historical Legacies and Modern Challenges."

His talk will take place at 7:30 p.m. in room 150 of Bolton Hall, 3210 N. Maryland Ave.

All Islam Awareness Week activities are free and open to the public and the press.
