Powell III To Speak on Internet Censorship MILWAUKEE - Adam Clayton Powell III will talk about the Internet, censorship and economic progress at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee March 27. The lecture, part of the university's Globalization and Technology series, will be in the UWM Union Wisconsin Room, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd., at 3 p.m.
Powell, vice president of technology and programs at the Freedom Forum, is an award-winning media manager, writer, editor, broadcaster and Internet analyst. His lecture will focus on the impact of the Internet in countries where news media are censored. He also will discuss how the Internet affects people in lower socioeconomic groups.
The Globalization and Technology series is co-sponsored by UWM's Center for International Education, the School of Information Studies, the Center for Instructional and Professional Development, the Learning and Technology Center, and Instruction and Media Technology (I&MT).
The final program in the series, "Transmissions: Technology, Media, Globalization" will be held April 25-27 at the Hefter Conference Center, 3271 N. Lake Drive.
