Throughout
Transit NOW's history a key focus has been employment mobility and sustainable
economic development. In order for SE Wisconsin to have economically and socially
vibrant communities, transportation options such as commuter rail are a necessity.
On Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at 12p.m. in the UWM Union Theatre, members of
Transit NOW, Dean Greenstreet of Architecture and Urban Planning , Dr. Ed Beimborn
of the Center for Urban Transportation Studies, Mark Kaminski, representing
the Milwaukee Connector proposal, and Joe Caruso of the Milwaukee County Transit
System, will participate in a forum to discuss transportation and its relation
to parking.
The Transit NOW forum will discuss exciting opportunities to bring convenient transit options that will not only bring parking relief to the UWM area, but could provide clean, easy, reliable, and affordable connections from the UWM area to areas such as Downtown Milwaukee, Historic Third Ward, Miller Park, and Mitchell Airport, as well as Lake shore communities such as Cudahy-St. Francis, S. Milwaukee, Oak Creek, Caledonia, Racine, Somers, Kenosha and Chicago.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call (414) 229-3111. This event is sponsored by Transit NOW & UWM Union Programming.
