MILWAUKEE -A free Healthy Living Fair for Older Adults is planned for Friday, April 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northwest Senior Center, 7717 W. Good Hope Rd. The fair is designed for persons 60 and over.
Sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Health Sciences Occupational Therapy Department and the Northwest Senior Center-Granville Interfaith, the fair features activities and equipment that can help older adults maintain their independence, improve their quality of life, and prevent common injuries. There will be presentations by UWM occupational therapy students, free screenings, booths and exhibits. Screenings will be available for balance and strength necessary for daily activities, risk for depression, and more.
"We've planned the fair to be fun as well as educational, with music and prize drawings," says event coordinator Sandy Ceranski. Lunch is available for a $2 donation. Lunch reservations, which are required and due April 17, can be made by phoning 353-0731.
