MILWAUKEE - Radia Perlman of Sun Microsystems speaks on "Network Security Protocols and Current Standards" at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Business Administration Center for Technology Innovation on Friday, March 29, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the School of Business Administration, 3202 N. Maryland Ave., Room N146.
Perlman is a distinguished engineer at Sun Microsystems and the architect for the Internet Security Research Group at Sun Labs. She is one of the 25 people whose work has most influenced the networking industry, according to Data Communications Magazine. This workshop covers the concepts in network security protocols as well as describes current standards. It approaches the problems first from a generic conceptual viewpoint, covering the problems and the types of technical approaches for solutions. After arming participants with a conceptual knowledge of the tricks that allow authentication, encryption, key distribution, etc., the workshop covers the current standards, including Kerberos, S/MIME, SSL, IPsec, PKI, and web security.
