As we struggle to grasp the magnitude of the disaster wrought by Hurricane
Katrina, UWM is responding. Below is some information on how the UWM community
has been responding, and links to other ways we can help.
Student Assistance
(Sept.
19, 2005 update)
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee continues to provide assistance to
college students whose educational plans have been disrupted by Hurricane
Katrina. To date, UWM has admitted 28 undergraduate and graduate students
from Gulf Coast-area universities and community colleges.
Since the semester is now well underway at UWM, admission for the current
term may no longer be feasible. However, we will review individual circumstances
and work with students to find appropriate options. Housing referrals
are also available if needed. Undergraduate students from any affected
Gulf Coast college or university interested in attending UWM should contact
the Department of Enrollment Services at 414-229-4481 (Amy Randall) or
414-229-3210 (Jack Baldi). Graduate Students should call 414-229-6569
(Wendy Fall).

UWM Emergency Relief Fund
The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee has
established an Emergency
Fund for students displaced from Gulf Coast colleges and universities by
Hurricane Katrina. Funding through this program may provide for books and other
school related expenses.
