Human Relations Area Files (HRAF)                                    Return to top of list
The Human Relations Area Files constitute a collection of data on primitive, historical, and contemporary cultures. Each culture is assigned a “cultural file”, within which source materials are developed for the study of specific cultures or areas, and for the study of particular topics cross-culturally. Much of the HRAF materials are on microfiche in the Microforms area, some may be found in PantherCat, the online catalog. and some current materials may be found in the online HRAF. For general information about HRAF, use Nature and use of the HRAF files, a research and teaching guide, (REF) GN 345 .3 .L34x 1974.

Anthropology on the Internet: a review and evaluation of networked resources
(search via JSTOR or Academic Search)
The electronic version of an article by Brian Schwimmer, Current Anthropology (vol. 37, no.3, June 1996; pgs 561-568), although dated, serves as a good starting point for studying anthropology. This introduces basic resources, such as listservs, news groups, core journals, major anthropology departments, research institutions, museums, and links to online resources. The site is easy to use, and provides access to a large number and variety of current links. For online access to the journal, see the UWM Libraries homepage, Electronic Journals: Citation Linker.
