ABSTRACT: Records relate to the involvement of secretaries with the American Archivist, annual meetings, committees, council, fellows, archival legislation, officers, and representatives. The records span 1936-1976, although the bulk dates from the 1960s and 1970s. In 1972, the executive director assumed the functions and responsibilities of the secretary.
ACCESS RESTRICTIONS: There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. However, the researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39). SAA retains its copyright in this collection.
ARRANGEMENT: The first two subgroups are amalgamations of the records of SAA secretaries from 1936 to 1956. Thereafter, subgroups correspond to the terms of individual secretaries. These subgroups are further arranged into series such as general files and committee files. In 1972, the executive director assumed the functions and responsibilities of the secretary. Accordingly, this record group has been discontinued.
