ABSTRACT: Seventy individuals attended SAA's first annual meeting, which was held at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. from June 18 to 19, 1937. Today, the annual meetings attract more than 1,000 individuals. This record group contains correspondence of the Meeting Planner and the Program and Local Arrangements Committees, attendee surveys, and annual meeting programs.  The programs are the richest source of information in this group; they include names of presenters, titles of papers, and, from 1972 forward, session abstracts.  Documentation of the annual meetings is uneven. The bulk of the records date from 1937 to 1943, 1958 to 1963, and 1987 to the present. 


ACCESS RESTRICTIONS: There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. However, the researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39). SAA retains its copyright in this collection.
