ABSTRACT: Papers of a District Court judge and prominent Milwaukee Polish American,
consisting of newspaper clippings, photographs, and miscellaneous regarding Gregorski's lengthy
career. Gregorski was born 12 January 1899 in Milwaukee, to Stanley and Mary Gregorski. He
attended St. Vincent's parochial school, South Division High School, State Teachers College, and
Marquette University, from which he received a law degree in 1922. There is present a 1916
photograph of Gregorski as a member of the South Division football team. He worked his way
through law school playing baseball for the Right Laundry, and later for an American Legion
post as shown in several of the photographs, and also managed playgrounds for the Park District.
Gregorski taught naturalization classes at night (c. 1925), and worked as a claims adjuster for
Fidelity Casualty Insurance Company prior to starting his law practice on Mitchell Street. He
maintained the law practice until 1937, when he was appointed assistant district attorney, a
position he held until 1945. In 1953 Governor Walter Kohler named Gregorski judge of the
traffic division of District Court; he was re-elected several times. In addition, Gregorski was
active in various civic and social organizations. He was president of the Fourth of July
Association for thirty years, until his death 11 July 1976; he was elected president of the Pulaski
Council in 1939, and was president of the Wisconsin unit of the Polish American Congress. In
1958 Gregorski received the Polish National Alliance Man of the Year Award. He was married
to Frances J. Schilling in 1923, and was the father of Evelyn, Ruth, and Robert.
