Gary Thorson, a trooper in the 101st Airborne, wrote to Edward Peterson, a history professor at the University of Wisconsin -River Falls on a regular basis to complain about the absurdity and corruption present in the army, and the overall waste of both materials and life that he witnessed as a soldier in Vietnam. This is a three page excerpt of a twelve page letter written November 1, 1969 just prior to his rotation back to America.
